12/18/2022 0 Comments Games online timecontrol![]() ![]() So far I feel like I am making better moves than in blitz games, not sure yet if the overall quality of the games is better. Initially, it seems more blunders than turn-based and fewer than blitz as one might expect. I one of the games I won, I was losing and won on time.Ĭomputer analysis of the games shows several blunders on each side. Not sure that really means anything, it seems that many of my opponents are slow which you would expect at that time control. In these 10 games, I have won 8 lost 1 and tied 1 and my rating is up to 1412. ![]() But either 30 min or 15/10 seems to give me the time I am looking for but some of the opponents in the 30 min time control are painfully slow which makes it less enjoyable for me. It works out to about a 20 minute game for a 30 move game but gives you enough extra time to finish out a won position even if it takes 60 moves or more. I like the 15/10 time control a little better. Since I started my experiment, I have played nine 30 minute games and one 15/10 game. And if I am able to get my Blitz rating playing 10 min games up near my turn-based rating, then I will be ready to try 5 min games. So, my idea is that when my standard live rating approaches my turn-based rating, that will be an indication that I am ready to move from 30 min standard live games back to 10 min blitz games. My turn-based rating is in the 1600s and my blitz and standard live ratings are around 1300. But slow is a relative term and 10 min is too fast for me now. I have played a few 30 min games lately and I feel much more like I am playing real chess as opposed to "who can move fast and avoid a fatal blunder".Īt a higher level, 10 min probably seems slow and real chess games can be played. In my case, I think 10 min is too fast for my current skill level. So, I guess my observation, is that the combination of turn-based and live games is a good principle for game development, but you have to find the right time control to develop the skills you want to develop. Lately, I have tried a few 30 min games and I think these are helping me more since I have more time to think. I am finding, though, that the 10 min games are not helping me with the ability to see more. Even in turn-based games, i make such blunders because the analysis board only helps with what you see. You can play them in single-player or multiplayer mode, depending on the game and game type: Restaurant time management. I seem to get through most openings in decent shape, occaisionally falling for an openning trap, but my downfall is usually a mid or end game blunder. Apart from the offline time management games you can play with the colleagues at the office, you can also enjoy various types of time management games you can play or download online. However, my achilles heel has been the blunder. Turn-based alows exploration of higher level play while 10 min games help train the mind to think faster and without the aid of the analysis board. For a while now, I have been playing a roughly even mix of turn-based games and 10 min games. ![]()
